Let Me Introduce Myself

Hi, my name is Jessica Cox, APC. I am a therapist who focuses on adults, adolescents and children coping with difficult life challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression and grief. Having experienced tragic loss myself, it has driven me to want to help others deal with the challenges of grief and overcome hurdles that can present themselves while trying to cope with daily living. While in grad school I worked with at-risk youth and children with emotional behavioral disorders which gave me a better appreciation of just how important it is to have support at every stage of life. Our journey through this world can be difficult and I want to be there to help navigate all the up’s and down’s that life brings.

My Journey To Becoming A Therapist

My passion for helping, listening and supporting those around me has always been an innate part of who I am. From my very first psychology class in my first year of college I instantly knew that I wanted to be in the mental health field. Understanding people and their behaviors was something that intrigued me. This led me to counseling and wanting to genuinely help people who were struggling by truly understanding their unique challenges and providing hope, support and strategies to make life feel a little easier. I know that my desire for wanting to see people grow and overcome personal challenges is the reason I was led to this profession.

"My hope is that together we can discover your true inner strengths that will lead you to growth and harmony within yourself."

What You Can Expect

I personally believe that counseling is an educational experience where you have the ability to learn about yourself through reflection, self-awareness and growth. My goal is to provide a comfortable, safe and caring environment to help you feel strengthened and empowered through our time together. My hope is that counseling will bring a sense of increased confidence, purpose and peace. Coming from a Colombian/American background I like to incorporate a multicultural perspective into my approach. It's important to take into account all the factors that play a role in someone's experience of life. Taking a holistic approach to therapy allows me to incorporate every aspect of a person and help them to find a deeper understanding of themselves. I know from personal experience that happiness can seem out of reach sometimes but I would love to help guide you there if you’ll allow me.
